In the Islamic republic's first public statement on the case of Sakineh Mohammedie Ashtiani, 42, the Iranian Embassy in London, England, said Thursday that "this mission denies the false news aired in this respect and ... according to information from the relevant judicial authorities in Iran, she will not be executed by stoning punishment. "It is notable that this kind of punishment has rarely been implemented in Iran and various means and remedies must be probed and exhausted to finally come up with such a punishment," the embassy said. But Ashtiani still faces the possibility of execution for her 2006 adultery conviction, said Drewery Dyke of Amnesty International in London. "We have noted in the past that those who have been sentenced to stonings have gone on to be hanged," he said. "That remains a concern." |

*** When Jesus' disciples wanted to know the future and asked Him, "What shall be the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the world?", He didn't reply with only one sign, but with dozens! In fact, the Bible gives us the scores of "signs of the times", "signs and signals that we are to look out for so that we can know exactly how close to the very end we are. See Mathew 24. These signs include: A dramatic upsurge in "famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Mathew 24:7 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. |

Christian Symbols and their meaning |
|
Friday, 07 May 2010 19:06 |
|
Introduction Occult symbols are fast replacing Christian symbols in our culture. Therefore, we encourage you to use this list to warn others, especially Christian children who intentionally wear and display them because they are popular. Keep in mind that some of these symbols have double meanings. For example, the pentagram has been used to transmit occult power in all kinds of rituals for centuries, but to Christians the same shape may simply represent a star -- a special part of God's creation. The image of a fish may mean a sign of the zodiac (astrology) to some, but to Christians it has meant following Jesus and sharing the message of His love. We will continue to delight in the cross, while recognizing that others use the same image to represent their dark forces. Please don't pass judgment on those who happen to wear these symbols. Instead, let us seek God’s will and discernment so that we might all honor Him with our lives. Remember, "each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block. . . in our brother's way." (Romans 14:12-13) |

Why Darwin's Triumph
Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809— 200 years ago this year. His famous book On the Origin of Species was published 50 years later, and during 2009, it is being celebrated as a watershed moment for Western civilization. However, the excitement has as much to do with Darwin’s philosophy and theology as it does with his actual theory of evolution. Full Story

Five Ways to Deal With Guilt
I don’t know why I lied. There was no reason for it. I just did. And a year later my conscience was still beating me up. The guilt felt like a noose around my neck. It started on the way home from summer camp when I was 12 years old. I discovered, on the bus, that I was a dollar short on the money my parents had given me to spend at camp. I knew they’d ask me if I’d spent it all, so I looked everywhere for that dollar. Alas! It was nowhere to be found. Full Story
From Sunday to Sabbath
When you think of Pentecostals, what doctrine pops into your mind? Speaking in tongues, right? When someone mentions Baptists, you probably think of baptism by immersion. When you hear the name Catholics, you may think of the virgin Mary or the Mass. Denominations are generally known for their distinct teachings or practices. Full Story

| Faith and Healing (Proverbs 17 & 18, Romans 5, Mark 8 & 9) Health & Healing: Lesson 6 Copr. 2010, Bruce N. Cameron, J.D. All scripture references are to the New International Version (NIV), copr. 1973, 1978, 1984 International Bible Society, unless otherwise noted. Quotations from the NIV are used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers. Suggested answers are found within parentheses. The lesson assumes the teacher uses a blackboard or some other visual aid. This lesson can be found at: <url:http://www.GoBible.Org/study/606.php> Introduction: The Bible recounts many, in both the Old and New Testaments, who were miraculously healed. What the Bible does not explain is the mechanism by which this happened. Sometimes Jesus used mud, other times spit, sometimes Jesus healed from a distance. What should we conclude from that? The logical conclusion is that mud and spit had nothing to do with it. So why would Jesus use them? Consider something else. Physicians do not really heal sickness, they merely improve the conditions for the body to heal itself. What should we conclude from that? The logical conclusion is that God created our bodies to heal themselves. Thus, the question about faith healing is this: what part of the healing process is connected with the mind? I recently read a book about the operation of the brain and it cited several scientific studies which showed that placebos (sugar pills) were effective in healing because people believed the pills were medicine, not sugar. Did God wire our brains to boost healing when we believe in healing? Let's jump into the Bible and see what it teaches us! |
